my team leader has emailed me logins and passwords and all that stuff so I can test everything out over the weekend. But I imagine as with everything IT related, it won't work first go - I'll be surprised if it does.

I imagine this would have made news in most places but a few weeks ago, Brisbane and most parts of NSW experienced a severe weather event, where there was flash flooding in certain places near the river. While I wasn't directly affected, apart from road closures around me, I found out today my new head office was affected by the floods, which means I'm working from home on the first day of the new day job. It'll be an interesting dynamic for sure, making sure everything is up and working. I'll be using my own laptop until I can get into the office and am allocated a work laptop.

I'm very happy with how everything has worked out. I'm now free and looking forward to starting my new chapter. It turns out I'm working from home on my first day because they don't have clearance to go back to head office. (Their basement got flooded in the recent severe weather event).

2 days to go …

check out all that green though … probably one of the main reasons I want to go … one day.

So after I got the meeting invite for my exit interview, I didn’t see much sense in staying at the day job beyond that point.

So I asked my boss if I could finish up next Wednesday and take the last two days as annual leave. This would coincide with my last day in the office and it will be far easier to return hardware as well.

Today he approved the request and I’m happy that I’ve finally reached my last week. I’ll have two extra days as well as the weekend before I start the new job.

To say I’m really happy with this outcome is an understatement.

haha yeah, I’ve got my fingers crossed things don’t go sideways 😁

so all went well. Haven’t tried some of the older Steam games yet but the ones I’m regularly playing are working well.

So after dodging the Windows 11 update on my gaming laptop for so long, this morning I finally had to succumb.

I’ve been using Windows 11 for quite some time on my work laptop and while it’s aesthetically pleasing, I was mainly dodging it cause I didn’t know if some of my Steam games would still work.

The update is happening as we speak, wish me luck!
