@hazardwarning Thanks! I'll be sure to let everyone know once I hear any more.
So it looks like I'm being extended at the day job but not sure how long for. There are internal movements all over the place. It looks like the lady that owns the role I currently do will get the role she interviewed for last week and if that's the case, it looks like my role will be recruited permanently for up to 2 years. I see 3 scenarios here:
- I've been in the role for the last 3 and a bit years, to save on having to recruit I may get a tap on the shoulder
- If they do recruit, and I am successful that way, I will finally get the job stability I've always wanted
- I will no longer be a contractor, so I'll get all the perks back. Leave, flex time etc.
Let's see how this all goes.
@hazardwarning I did have a conversation with her maybe a week or so before we merged teams about expectations and she said to me it would be business as usual for us. It seems to me she has a little bit of understanding about what my role entails but in the 3 years I've been there, the role has changed dramatically. I wonder if she thinks because I do all the reconciliations at the end of each month that I'm a fully fledged accountant (which let's face it I'm soooo not).

@hazardwarning that's one way to stick it to them I guess. I got asked today why I wasn't allowed to go to a meeting that my big boss had planned me to go to. Not naming names or anything, I just said it was deemed inappropriate that I attend. My new immediate boss seems to think I'm an accountant first and foremost, I'm not sure I'm completely OK with that.

@neilco is there still such a thing as "being a team player" but not giving in to scare tactics from the higher authority?
// @matigo
@kdfrawg The lady that'll be doing the role in the interim until they recruit permanently doesn't seem too bad. That being said, I don't know what her management style is like so it could be interesting.
As if I don't do enough at the day job, I'm now sitting here doing more work to prepare for the onslaught tomorrow. This whole playing catch up bullshit has to stop at some point. The amount of sass I'm getting from my boss is making things soooooo much worse. I can't wait until he goes, maybe I'll finally get some peace!
