So I had a Zoom interview for an Accounts Officer role today. It’s a 12 month contract through the company and not through the agency, which will be a welcome change. I’ll get all the creature comforts of flex days and annual leave again. I hope to find out the outcome by the end of the week.

sad news indeed. I spoke to Dad just before and he’s lost. He said it feels weird and doesn’t know what to do next. I’m taking him out for lunch on Friday so that will hopefully make him feel a bit more at ease.

yep, sad times indeed.

Tonight we say farewell to another four-legged friend. You’ve been Dad’s shadow for the last 15 years and even though you’ve had the toughest battle for the last 6 months, we’re all grateful for the extra time we got to have with you. It was tough to say goodbye but we know you’ll be in a better place.

RIP Molly. Say hi to Lily, Hamish, Basil and the rest of the gang.

Each day I seem to have small wins with this PC I'm trying to rebuild so I can ultimately sell it.

  • I got rid of the having to press F1 to get the thing started
  • Restarted Windows Time so the date and time would sync properly
  • Found out the USB ports weren't dead at all and managed to get it showing up in File Explorer again.

I'm feeling ok with progress so far.

Thanks … unfortunately he came back to me the following day to tell me the position had been filled. I believe that could be recruiter speak for the position either may not have existed at all or that it was filled internally.

Ah well, I don't have control over that so I'm not going to stress about it.

So I received an email earlier today about a Bank Reconciliations Officer role on a 6 month contract. The recruiter obviously wants someone quickly if they're emailing after hours. I indicated my interest but with questions. Hopefully I'll get answers tomorrow.

2021 has so far been about achieving the little things.

From getting my pinball game working on a PC far older than the game itself to finding some decent software to convert images to SVG format so that work on a wiki I'm contributing to can continue, it's been a pretty good couple of days so far.

I have a few goals for 2021, top of that list is securing hopefully long term employment. I've applied for a few roles so far but there is one particular role that starts on Jan 18 I'm optimistic about - I hope to hear back about that one but we'll see. I suspect most recruiters will return on Jan 4.
