I’ve always opted for manual updates cause then I have the control over what happens and if anything hits the fan I can pretty much fix it. If it’s minor stuff, then yes I usually opt for overnight updates.

I was about to throw this ? out the window. I’ve been hitting all kinds of roadblocks and suddenly it decides to work. Technology has wasted my weekend. Thank god I have an extension on my assignment cause at this rate there’s no way I’m getting it sorted before midnight. It’ll take many miracles and plenty of cups of tea to get me through this.

Didn't realise this process was going to take all day … I suppose 3 out of 4 updates isn't that bad. I've updated my watch, iPhone and iPad1. Now I just have my MacBook left but I think it's going to be more of a tedious process than first thought. I've downloaded Mojave but now I need the installer for High Sierra too in case it all hits the fan.

  1. while also figuring out why it had 30GB of "other" data that I didn't need

I didn't even think of that. Hmmm … I've figured out that I don't have an MBA with Retina Display. But, saying that anything is worth a shot and if it doesn't work then I can always switch back to High Sierra.

I've definitely learned my lesson from that one time I did an update on release with one of my older iPhones back in the day1 and it bricked it. I'd rather wait for as long as I can but now I feel like it's necessary.

  1. I think it may have been my 3GS

Thanks Joanna. It's a slow and drawn out training process but in the end it will be worth it. Plus it's a 12-18 month contract so I can't argue with that.

Wow, iOS 10! I don't know how you could stand all the reminders from Apple to update for that long … yikes. I've started to update my iPhone to iOS 12 (apparently I have to update that before I do my Watch … ugh!). I'll do my iPad after I clean it out (ugh!) and then I'll decide what to do with my MBA. Good day for it since it's a very ugly rainy day here.

Good to know! I guess I can go ahead and do that now. Thanks Peter!

I will! It's been a intensely emotional week. I still can't talk about my friend without getting sad about it.

I hope so too! All are fairly close to the train, which will help immensely. There is one site particularly close to the mall, which will be nice when it gets to Christmas shopping.

It wasn't, it was just intense cause of the amount of information to take in. I've always hated the theory side but if was pretty much common sense stuff e.g. code of conduct, WHS, cultural diversity … all the nitty gritty stuff. It'll get more interesting once I get into the technical training though as it's more practical. I don't find out which site I'll be going to until about 3 weeks into the training.
